First blog ever

This is my very first blog.  Not sure exactly what people would want to read.  I am an avid quilt maker who loves to be near the water and, I'll bet you guessed, loves loons!  We recently bought a lovely little house on a lake in Massachusetts.  Unfortunately, there are no loons here.

I recently organized and ran a quilt retreat for 28 women at Cape Cod!  It was 3 days and 4 nights of great fun.  This was my second annual retreat for our local quilt shop, Meeting House Quilts.  We are looking to change the location for next year and I'm having a tough time coming up with a venue with prices like we had at the Cape.  I have contacted many places all over New England and am hoping to have an affordable place for our 2014 retreat soon.

We had lots going on at this year's retreat - a pin cushion exchange ice breaker, Left Right Center game where you needed 3 pretty strips of fabric (6 inches by WOF) to play, an ice cream social, an ugly fat quarter exchange, Show and Tell (of course!), thread raffle, Halloween/Autumn Fat Quarter raffle, Batik Fat Quarter Raffle, a Friendship Quilt fabric exchange, demonstrations given by retreat participants, prizes for things made from last year's retreat winnings, door prizes, ballot prizes - neatest sewing space, slept latest, happiest quilter, etc., lovely gifts from the Meeting House for all 28 women, and much more!

I had so much fun organizing the retreat!  I made a monogrammed notebook and pen holder for all 28 of us.  Each person received a welcome bag which included a Meeting House Quilt Retreat Mug filled with - band-aids, a lint roller, nail file, measuring tape, hand sanitizer, and hand cream.  Also in the gift bag were a bag of chocolates, Kleenex, a lapel pin, and the notebook holder.

Next year, I'm planning to have a Christmas theme for our retreat!
